Choosing the right insurance
Super Visa plans differ in how they treat pre-existing conditions, the deductible, refunds if the visa is refused or your parents leave early, and side trips outside Canada. Brinder compares plans from multiple insurers with a best rate guarantee.
Frequently asked questions
How long can parents stay on a Super Visa?
Parents and grandparents can stay for long periods at a time โ up to five years per entry under current IRCC rules โ and may apply to extend. Always check IRCC for the latest rules.
Does the insurance have to be from a Canadian company?
IRCC accepts plans from Canadian insurers and from certain authorized foreign insurers. We recommend a Canadian plan, which we can quote and explain.
Can Super Visa insurance be paid monthly?
Yes. IRCC accepts plans paid in instalments, as long as the policy is valid for the required period. A deposit may be required.
When do I need to show proof of insurance?
Proof is submitted with the application, and border officers may ask to see it when your parent or grandparent arrives in Canada.
