Travel Insurance
How long must Super Visa insurance be valid?
At least one year from the date your parent or grandparent enters Canada, and it must be in place for the whole time they are here.
Can I pay monthly?
Yes โ IRCC accepts plans paid in instalments, and many insurers offer monthly payment options. A deposit may be required.
Are pre-existing medical conditions covered?
Many plans cover stable pre-existing conditions, usually at a higher premium. We'll explain each insurer's stability rules before you buy.
What if the visa is refused?
Many insurers refund the premium if the visa is refused, when you provide proof. We'll confirm the refund rules of the plan you choose.
Can I buy coverage after my visitor has arrived?
Yes, many insurers allow it, though a waiting period may apply to illnesses that begin shortly after purchase.
Can the policy be extended?
Most plans can be extended before they expire if your visitor decides to stay longer.
Is this the same as Super Visa insurance?
It's similar emergency medical coverage, but Super Visa plans must meet specific IRCC rules (at least one year and $100,000).
Doesn't my provincial plan cover me abroad?
Provincial plans cover only a small part of emergency costs outside Canada, which is why private travel insurance is recommended.
What is a multi-trip plan?
One annual policy that covers every trip you take during the year, up to a maximum number of days per trip.
Do I need to declare my medical history?
Yes. Answering health questions accurately is essential โ an incorrect answer can lead to a denied claim.
Does my school already provide insurance?
Some schools include a plan in tuition, others don't. We'll check what you already have before recommending anything.
Can parents buy the policy from overseas?
Yes. Family members can arrange coverage before the student arrives so they're protected from day one.
Life Insurance

In Canada, life insurance death benefits paid to a named beneficiary are generally received tax-free.
Can I switch from term to permanent later?

Is this better than the bank's mortgage insurance?
A personal policy keeps a level benefit, pays your chosen beneficiary and moves with you if you change lenders โ bank coverage usually doesn't.
Can I add critical illness coverage?
Yes. Many families pair life and critical illness coverage so the mortgage is protected if either happens.
Who owns and pays for the policy?
The business owns the policy, pays the premiums and is the beneficiary.
Can disability be covered too?
Yes. Key person disability coverage can be added so the business is protected if the person can't work.

Often, yes โ bundling can cost less than three separate policies. We'll compare both ways for you.
When can coverage start?
Many plans can start shortly after birth. We'll confirm the insurer's rules for your baby.
Is non-medical insurance more expensive?
Usually, yes โ the insurer takes on more risk. That's why we compare it against fully underwritten options.
What is the two-year limitation?
Guaranteed issue plans often pay only a refund of premiums (or a reduced amount) if death from illness occurs in the first two years.
Is a medical exam required?
Many funeral plans are simplified or guaranteed issue โ no exam needed.
I was declined before โ can I still get covered?

What illnesses are covered?
